Dear members of the NAIBA,
RE: Camino Books, Inc. closing at the end of 2026
Dear members of the NAIBA,
I wish to share news about the future of Camino Books, the company I founded in 1987. After a truly great adventure, I have decided to retire and Camino will close at the end of 2026.
Please note, however, that our normal publishing operations will continue until 12/31/26.
I would like to thank all of the many booksellers who supported Camino and helped promote and sell our books throughout the region. Many prior members of the Association who were important to Camino’s early successes are unfortunately no longer operating, but they equally deserve accolades for their contributions to the regional publishing ecosystem.
I look back on my time as a publisher with immense pride and gratitude. Bringing high-quality books to readers throughout the mid-Atlantic and beyond has been a profound pleasure and highlight of my career. I now see that the last quarter of the 20th century was truly the golden age of independent publishing, and I am honored to have been a part of it.
With best wishes,
Edward Jutkowitz
