Job Title: Frontline Bookseller for an Independent Bookstore
Location: Medina, NY

Job Type: 20-30 hours per week.
Schedule: Daytime weekday availability is essential; some weekends; occasional evenings.
Position Summary
We seek an experienced frontline bookseller, or someone with comparable experience, who:
- Reads avidly across many genres and can make book recommendations to a variety of readers.
- Is passionate about bookselling, and eager to pitch in and learn all about the book industry, and to work energetically to help Author’s Note grow and thrive.
- Is technically quick and savvy, able to learn a complex book-industry Point of Sale system and the intricate processes of ordering and receiving book inventory.
- Is adept at using Google Drive applications, Google Search, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Can follow essential processes with precision and exactness.
- Has excellent verbal and written communication skills and can represent Author’s Note with college-level or equivalent communication skill and professionalism.
- Has a strong work ethic and a can-do, get-it-done attitude, including shelving books, setting up and taking down displays, breaking down boxes, dusting shelves, and Swiffing the floor. (If you think booksellers sit at the counter and read, ever, alas, this is not the job for you.)
- Brings warmth and friendliness to every customer interaction; makes every customer feel welcome; works as a team player.
- Is impeccably trustworthy and honest.
- Believes firmly in the value of independent bookstores and supporting local businesses

About Author’s Note
Author’s Note is a warmly welcoming destination bookstore with all-new inventory across all ages and genres, as well as an inviting selection of cards, gifts, toys, and coffee. We run book clubs, author visits, school visits, offsite book fairs, and special events throughout the year and provide books for many schools, libraries, and conferences throughout the region.
