Event Details

We created NAIBA Virtual Cowork Week because we needed it: a time block on the calendar every year with built-in accountability, space, and support. Join us this year to build a solid plan and new systems for yourself, your staff, and your store for a productive 2027.

We'll meet on November 9 – 13 from 9 am - 11 am each morning. Each day will provide a dedicated cowork/body doubling session with a specific focus and an experienced NAIBA board member on hand to provide guidance and support. Join us for one day, some days, or all week long.

After a brief, 15 minute introduction including some thought starters (and encouragement) to help you structure your time, you’ll work independently on the day’s goals. If you want to go deeper about the day’s topic with anyone joining the session, you’re welcome to join a breakout room at any point.

NAIBA VIRTUAL COWORK WEEK 2027

Monday, 11/9: Create your 2027 Calendar with Kirsten Hess, The End Bookstore: On Monday, you’ll work on building an overarching to-do list, scheduling tasks that you know you’ll need to do in the future, and getting everything on the calendar you need for a successful 2027.

Tuesday, 11/10: Make an Operations Plan for the New Year with Carolyn Godavitarne, Politics & Prose. On Tuesday, you’ll make a list of everything in your store that needs to be attended to in 2027 – the operational pieces that you keep putting off but you really shouldn’t.

Wednesday, 11/11: Clean up Your Expense Creep with Erin Matthews, the last word.: On Wednesday, tackle out-of-control expenses by reviewing your P&L and identifying areas where you could save money by switching vendors, negotiating fees, etc. If you have an ABACUS report with your store's data, it will be helpful for this session.

Thursday, 11/12: Strive for Inbox Zero with Nicole Brinkley, Oblong Books: On Thursday, you’ll focus on attacking your inbox with our resident email management guru Nicole Brinkley. She will walk you through different methods of labeling, sorting, and responding before you dive in and tackle your own inbox.

Friday, 11/13: Break Down Your Blocks with Hannah Oliver Depp, Loyalty Bookstores: What tasks can you just not force yourself to start? We all know there are to-dos of all sizes that just feel overwhelming – even something as simple as a phone call. Share with the group and they’ll help you form a plan of attack. You can also use this time to finish work from previous days and/or work on another focus.

Please note: There is an expectation and commitment to privacy for all things shared in our meetings and events. If you would like to use an experience, idea, or program shared by someone in one of our meetings or events, you are obligated to contact that person to discuss your intent and acquire permission.
