Allison K Hill is the new CEO of the American Booksellers Association. She began March 1, following 16 years at Vroman’s Bookstore in Pasadena and Book Soup in West Hollywood where she served most recently as the stores’ president and CEO. She also worked as vice president of Vroman’s Real Estate Ventures and served on both companies’ boards. Prior to her time with Vroman’s, Hill was the general manager and a bookseller at Book Soup for six and one-half years and an assistant general manager and bookseller at Waterstone’s before that. Hill started her career in bookselling at Simon & Schuster and has served on various industry boards and committees, including as vice president of the Southern California Independent Booksellers Association, president of the Independent Booksellers Consortium, and a member of the ABA’s Booksellers Advisory Council. She graduated in June with an MBA from UCLA’s Anderson School of Management and has a BA from Tufts University in English and Peace and Justice Studies.
