Ye Olde Warwick Book Shoppe in the historic village of Warwick, NY, opened their doors in April 2012. Designed in the fashion of an old Victorian Book Shoppe, the exterior is complete with brass lighting fixtures on the front windows and green shades; the interior houses dark stained book shelves and beamed ceilings. The shop carries a combination of new, used, and rare books as well as fascinating collectibles and curiosities. It has been a dream come true for business partners, Thomas G. Roberts and Joseph John Justin.
2014 was a very good year for the Ye Olde Warwick Book Shoppe. In April 2014, the partners took over the apartment above the shop, reconfiguring it to add an additional 300 sq. ft. of selling floor, leaving room for an office and storage. The new space won the Chamber of Commerce Best Renovation award. With this new space they were able to expand most of the existing sections while adding three new sections. They also renovated their "Kiddie Korner," quadrupling their Children's section.
The holiday season was good to Ye Olde Warwick too. "I ran the numbers three times as I couldn't believe my eyes!" Roberts said. Sales from Thanksgiving until New Years, were up 21% over last year. For the entire year, their sales increased 11.5%. Roberts attributes the big upswing to the newly opened 2nd floor.
"Who says independent bookstores are dead?!" exclaimed Roberts.
